The Culture2030Goal campaign’s name reflects the primary focus of our work: making sure that the arts, culture and heritage are fully integrated into the current and any future comprehensive, global development frameworks at the United Nations.
But underneath this is the broader objective that all policymaking takes full account of the place and potential of culture. This is because the role of cultural factors in policy effectiveness, as well as the power of the cultural sector to inspire and accelerate positive change, is relevant across the board. This applies at all levels, from the local to the global.
At the global level, there are the SDGs and whatever the post-2030 agenda will look like, but this is far from being the only relevant policy process. In many other areas there are conventions, conferences and other initiatives where culture has a place.
Ultimately, the goal of the campaign will only be fully achieved when all such processes integrate culture meaningfully.
Therefore, we are looking to develop an overview of how far this is already the case, and how different actors in the wider culture community are engaging. Through this, we hope to help the wider culture sector get an overview of where things stand today, and reflect on how we can raise the profile of culture in all relevant spaces.
The survey is open until 21 September, and can be accessed via this link.
